7 Types of People You Meet in Komodo Diving Liveaboard

For an avid diver, there no adventure as thrilling as submerging yourself underneath the deep blue sea, swimming against swift currents and gliding through the water with hundreds of fishes. Underwater scenery can get even more vibrant when you dive around Komodo’s world class diving sites, which located right in the heart of coral triangle. The ocean is brimming with chromatic corals, fishes, pelagic, and other exotic creatures who enjoy the protection of the National Park. One of the most popular way to enjoy Komodo’s underwater beauty is by having a multiple day trip with Komodo diving liveaboard.

One of the great thing about having a Komodo trip with liveaboard is that you are given a chance to meet all like minded people from all walks of life who share a same passion for the ocean. But here’s this thing. The thing about being confined on a ship for four to seven days with these people is you are “forced” to know their true color. Some will make a new strong bond, other will make you wish a room to escape. Either way, learning how to interact with these people will improve your diving life aboard experience.

7 Types of People You Meet in Komodo Diving Liveaboard

The First Timer Diver

In any Komodo diving liveaboard, there will likely be at least one first timer diver that’s probably still completing their course. Some diving liveaboard in Labuan Bajo are also operating as a dive center. Their chest is filled with anxiety and excitement all at once. If you are an experienced diver, offers them a little help and guidance—they will really appreciate it.

The Loud Families

Well, with the rare dragon, outlandish beauty, and brilliant water, it’s no surprising that more families are taking their children to a Komodo liveaboard trip. Some of these families, however, happens to be the loudest member of the liveaboard. Especially when the children are running around and squealing with over excitement, and the parents are trying to stop them with high-pitch yelling.

The Geeky Diver

They are the only person on board who constantly throw around decompression theories and complicated terms. It’s not surprising that they happen to own the best diving gadget in the boat.

The Grounded Loner

While the rest of the group are busy bonding, the grounded loner always seems a little bit detached for the rest of the group. They can perform an excellent teamwork underwater, but when it’s time to surface, they are nowhere to be found.  Maybe they love me time so much. Maybe they are just introverted and awkward. Either way, they are probably a solo traveler who rather keep their own company and indulge themselves in relaxing spot of the Komodo diving liveaboard, away from the hustle and bustle of the group.

The Experienced

In any diving liveaboard, there will be at least someone who seems to have dive deeper, travel farther, and know how to handle the water better than anyone else. It’s the experienced diver, and your diving buddy is absolutely one of them! Listen to what they say!

The Young and Living to the Fullest

Ah. No one can deny that the wild Komodo National Park is a magnet for the young and adventurous. They love to start every dive (and trek) with “Yahooo!” and get excited for every activities. These young soul are among the first to accept thrilling challenge, like drift diving or stand up paddling.

The Everybody’s Buddy

There will always be one person who seems like the glue of everyone. They can always find a topic and befriend everyone in the liveaboard in less than six hours. Whenever they are not around, the boat suddenly feels dry.

Can you identify yourself with one of these type?

Avoid Exceeding Your Plane’s Luggage Weight – Here’s How

Exceeding your luggage worth restriction is a nothing sort of a nightmarish experience. One solution to this that has always been preached by every travel bloggers known on earth is the two-word magical phrase; packing light! Packing light has been nothing sort of an art form. It sounds simple.

How to avoid exceeding your plane's luggage weight

Bring less, use organizers, use scales, and so forth—but the practice is way more difficult, and well, takes practice. So when the practice of packing light itself is not as easy as it sounds, where do you start in order not to exceed your luggage weight?

Check with your airlines

On top of the international regulation, make sure that you have the specific information. Visiting your airline’s website is usually sufficient to yield you the information you needed. Call your airlines if you’re unsure.

Get the appropriate bag

One of the fastest way to pack lighter is well, to reduce the size of you bag! If you’re used to bringing huge bags, change your habits by changing your bag. The bigger the bag means more room. More room means more urges to fill it with your stuff. More stuff means more weight. And so on. Before you know it, you’re already exceeding your weight limits.

Get a luggage scale

A straightforward way to find out whether you exceed limits. Get a luggage scale that is portable as well. It’d be a good investment to bring on your many travels.

This item may prove to be particularly useful if you especially love shopping and/or plan to shop a lot in your destination.

Even though you did not exceed the luggage weight during your departure to your destination, that does not mean you’re fine during the time going home. The condition of your luggage and the total of your belongings may very well be very different.

Having a luggage scale is going to be very handy in helping you know the exact weight of your luggage; whether you can squeeze more of that souvenir in.

Minimum to no toiletries

Only bring toiletries once you’re sure if the place you’re staying in will not provide it. But even then, consider that you can always buy these items at the nearest mini market in your destination. For items such as razors, toothbrushes, and toothpastes, your hotel or resorts would likely have them, so it’s not necessary for you to bring them.

Don’t bring items “just in case”

This is basically the same as “what-ifs” item—in the end, it’s going to cost you space and impose more weight. Things such as umbrella, that extra piece of clothes (“I don’t know whether I’m going to use it but—just in case!”), and everything that could possibly load your baggage. Just don’t bring it. Have a packing list and bring the most essential ones with you.

Compartmentalize your belongings

Take full advantage of packing organizers such as the packing cubes. They’re going to change the way you travel and pack. Travel organizers have been known to prevent overpacking. They also serve their purposes well in organizing your luggage and would minimize the frustration of digging through the endless lump of stuff and clothes.

Stay Together With Your Group In 8 Bedroom Villa Seminyak

Did you know that when you are in Bali, you can even get the 8 bedroom villa at Seminyak? What a good news especially for those who are travelling with their family members for a special occasion like the wedding as many travellers have done that. This is also should be the great idea where you won’t worry anymore when visiting Bali with all your friends.

The connecting door and private pools in 8 bedroom villa Seminyak

I don’t know how many people you have came with to Bali before or how many you will bring later, but as you may have thought that you are now have a big place to go.

I won’t give you big expectation that you will later rent such luxury and private resort even if you can affords one. That’s the different thing. So that, I will tell you that it is the interconnected villa where there will be 1, 2, 3 and more bedrooms will be connected and then you will get your own 8 bedroom villa Seminyak.

From my some previous posts, I have been published about this villa that named as the Hu’u Villas Bali. Most of the offers you will get is simply just the 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms villa such other same type accommodations with luxury design.

All the villas are nearby the beach where the Seminyak village itself located. And if you are willing to go to the beach, you will only walk for around some times that won’t even up to 5 minutes. When you are walking to it with your family or friends, I think that will be one of the memorable fun moment right before doing what you are willing to do.

Some travellers are need to be their own self and some are feeling happy when they can be staying together and make a crowd with their best partners. If you are included into the second type, then reserving an 8 bedroom villa at Seminyak will really the perfect deal where there aren’t many such accommodation offer in Bali.

I think it is just like anywhere else in this world where the top 3 accommodation offers based on their bedrooms will only guide you to find the 1 bedroom villa, 2 and of course the 3 bedrooms. I have no idea where else you can get this special interconnected villa that allowing you to have more than 5 bedrooms.

I wouldn’t dare to say that it is the only 8 bedroom villa Seminyak in Bali. But since the concept is still quiet the rare thing as I believe in Bali, then it can be more special to stay in. Simply search for the same or related accommodation on internet, then the options won’t be as many as the top three accommodations as I have mentioned on above.

It can be caused by the travellers themselves that mostly were coming with only a friend or two. Not really can be considered as a group of travellers. Over time, it may hasn’t the same like when the high season is coming. Many people are even visiting with dozens of people in a group. Sometimes, hotel rooms are full booked that seems to be there won’t any place for them to go. And sometimes, they may just need to experience the different stays.

Anyway, since this 8 bedroom villa Seminyak has its own private pool, no need to worry that the pool can be full booked as well. There will always enough rooms in the pool where you can move as you want. It is because each rooms will have their own private pool. This is the interesting thing knowing that a small party with your group can be held besides the pools as well as inside the villa.

Komodo Boat, A Vessel to Reveal A Fantastic Park Adventures

The land of Komodo dragon is not only blessed with the prehistoric giant lizard, but is also overflown with breathtaking landscape and lively marine life. Komodo has too much to offer and there’s no way you can taste it all in one single day. Obviously, the right way to do a proper adventure in Komodo is by taking a sailing trip in a Komodo boat. Picture the wooden phinisi boat that match perfectly with the Jurassic-esque scene, gleaming azure water dropping in the background, and the majestic encounters with outlandish beasts, both on land or beneath the waves.

Komodo Boat, A Vessel to Reveal A Fantastic Park Adventures

If you are a sucker for exploration, this sailing trip could feel much like an expedition to eccentric wildlife than a leisure holiday. The exotic landscape is not only here for a pleasing show. It’s a safeguard for many exotic and rare creatures that will probably vanished should they are exposed to modern civilisations.  Here is a glimpse of wild wonderland that has long been hidden in Indonesian frontier.

A fantastic park to launch uncanny adventures

Komodo is surely the place to experience a real life experience of Jurassic Park mixed with a little touch of Fantastic Beast and How to Find Them. No kidding. These jagged and grotesque savannah islands seems like the land that slipped before time. And between the wild outdoors, fantastic creatures creeps and glide, living their best lives under the protection of UNESCO and  Indonesian government. Our main star, the Komodo dragons, lurks amidst the tropical forest of Komodo Island and Rinca Island; hunting the deers and doing their best as the official national animal.

Komodo boat is your ticket to wander around the rich sea

Venturing the region with Komodo National Park with Komodo boat will not only get you the sight of majestic Komodo dragons, but also other marvellous creatures. Underneath the azure ocean, array of chromatic corals awaits. Once you take a deep plunge, the marine life reveals a technicolor life with greater diversity than the land above. The water is clear with high visibility and it’s a great place to hunt (and by hunt we meant sightseeing from afar) dugongs, pelagic, and hundred years old turtles. The Komodo’s water is warm and it’s a meeting point of two currents, bringing in rich nutrient planktons that makes the ocean blooms with life. The coral covers sustains thousands of fishes of many species, including tuna, sweetlips, surgeonfish, napoleon wrasse, and other school of fishes that seems busy crossing the sea.

Above them all is our A-list celebrity, the great Manta Rays who definitely sit on everyone’s list after the dragons. There’s a special place in Komodo National Park where divers love to jump from their Komodo boat and wait for the Manta Rays passing—the phenomenal Manta Point. A favourite cleaning station for the Manta, this shallow open water spot is located between Rinca Island and Komodo Island with less than 30 feet depth. Coral beds featuring the forever shape-shifting anemones, clownfish, and turtles munching seaweeds will entertain you until the majestic Manta makes its graceful greets, gliding effortlessly in the middle of the bluish world.

Komodo National Park is really a place where mother nature audaciously let out its magic.

Things You Need for a Road Trip Based on the Season

Having a solo road trip or group road trip is fun. There are thrills from exploring the road by driving your car. Road trip is not about your travel destination but the journey from one point to another.

It is also one of the bet choices for short getaway since you don’t have to necessarily choose final points too far from the starter point. You don’t have to buy a ticket for a flight as well. However, road trip requires 100% stamina of your body.

It is important to stay fit and focus during road trip even if you switch-driving. It is easy to get drowsy in the middle of your trip and it is dangerous. Therefore, make sure you are well-prepared.

Things you need to pack for a road trip based on the season

Pack for a road trip based on season

Road trip is usually for summer getaway, however, most people tend to choose spring or fall for a road trip since the weather is not too extreme, meanwhile, road trip during winter is too risky since the road must be more slippery and covered with snow.

Since everyone has individual preference, being-well prepared is the only solution. No matter what season you hit the road, you can pack conditionally.

If you choose to have a road trip during mild weather such as in late summer, spring, or fall, you just need basic packing list including emergency kit.

Things you need to pack include flashlight with full batteries and 100% functional, heavy duty jumper cables just in case the battery dies somewhere in the middle of the journey, USB charger, safety triangles for your car in emergency, light sticks if you save the battery of your flashlight, emergency hammer to help you when you are trapped inside the car, first-aid kit to treat injury, a tow rope, and tire inflator.

Those are technical things you need. In addition, you also need to pack something for your need includes snacks to keep your energy in check such as protein bar, nuts, chocolate bar, etc. As for the beverages, it is recommended to pack plain water or drinks with low/less sugar.

If you choose to have a road trip during extreme weather like in winter, you might as well prepare more things to pack.

Aside from the regular things you should pack just like mentioned above, you need to pack additional things such as warm blanket to keep you and your passenger warm, additional jacket, a shovel just in case you need to dig out your car from the thick snow, ice scraper with for your car windows, and a bag of cat litter to help you in emergency such as when your car needs to gain traction.

If you are going to hit the road during hot summer, make sure you pack enough beverages aside from necessities to pack during mild weather of course.

You also need to re-apply sunblock o your skin periodically to avoid sunburn. Sunglasses are optional, depending on your comfort for driving.

Some Required Hammock Camping Gears You’re Going To Be Need

Now today, let me talk about the hammock camping again even though I don’t really need any permission to start. We go over some of the pros and cons of it and going to go over all the different gear that you actually need to successfully hammock camp and I’m going to set everything up and show you how all the pieces fit together.

So a lot of people have this misconception about hammock camping that all you really need to do it is just the hammock and in some sense that may be true. But I’d say that most of the time that’s not the case you need more than just a hammock.

A hammock might do in ideal conditions if it’s the middle of the summer and it’s not raining and it’s dry out and it’s warm maybe get away of just a hammock but in most conditions you’re going to need a lot more than hammock. But I’m going to go over all that required gears.

Let’s start with a hammock which is my favourite is just a simple parachute nylon hammock made by Ticket To The Moon.

You will get these real cheap bucks! it’s really compact, really lightweight and it is pretty comfortable. I think that it is durable enough for maximum 10 years usage and big chance that you will have had any issues with them tearing or anything they usually come with a pouch built into the hammock.

Hammock camping gears that you will really need

Hammock camping design

So, the one made by TTTM is got some carabiners go right into the the nylon fabric if you need. This is their single nest I got and to be honest, I kind of wish I would have gotten their double mass which is supposed to be a double person hammock and a little wider. It is because this one when I’m in the hammock, it kind of constrains you a bit so I do kind of wish that I would have gotten the double nest which I had imagined. It will give me a little bit more arm room. So some of the pros to this is that they’re pretty comfortable. I think they’re very lightweight very easy to set up.

Now, let’s see about the cons! The nylon hammocks though is that this is paper-thin. Sometimes I think that this is probably thinner than paper so the issue that you run into is let’s say it’s windy out. Your bare back is on this hammock when there’s a gust of wind. It just all that gets sucked right out of you so this provides almost no insulation from the elements, whatsoever.

And since you’re raised up above the ground, you have the going below you, around you on top of you so that’s kind of the major concern with these nylon hammocks so they do make hammocks are thicker than this and you can definitely invest in that. Maybe cost a little bit more money even though it will have the same weight, a little bit bigger. But if you’re just starting out a simple nylon hammock, it will definitely do the job and there’s other items that you can bind to address the issue of the code and of the wind blown in these hammocks.

Another item that I recommend is actually hammock straps so these are also provided by the same manufacturer and you may be saying yourself “Man, I got paracord.” So what these straps are? do they’re just some very tough straps that easily wrap around a tree and then provide you with different levels of hooks?

I was writing about this before as you can finds in this blog. It easily just wrapped around a hammock and it’s got these loops built into it so if I wanted to adjust the height of my hammock, you know on the fly I can. If I wanted to adjust where on the tree these loops are, all I have to do is loosen it up and then pull it tight.

I think you will never had these things slip on you. The hammock straps they’re really easy to set up. I really enjoy having me inside. And again these are by TTTM.

Even though you are inside the hammock camping, you will also of course going to need a sleeping bag to go along with everything. Obviously, if you’re in cold temperatures, you want a nice winter sleeping bag. If you’re in summertime, you know you can get away with something else. You’re pretty flexible on your sleeping bag but you’re going to need a sleeping bag along with everything else. So the next item I want to talk about is the under quilt. Remember how before I said that the nylon is very thin and you will freeze your body because of that wind blows right underneath avenges sucks all your heat away.

One of the required hammock camping gears that you are going to be need is the underquilt.

Well, an underquilt looks to prevent that and it’s exactly what it says; it’s a quilt that actually goes underneath of your hammock. It’s kind of interesting because this can actually be used as a sleeping bag as well as a pod system. So this one you could have it just as an under quilt or you can actually zip it up and it can completely enclose you as kind of a pod going all around your hammock. This is pretty much how I would go about setting up my hammock system.

You can get your cheap nylon hammock camping and an underquilt from the same place which is TTTM and the sleeping bag from another place. The underquilt is really will helps you protect yourself from losing the heat underneath of a hammock. It is actually sagging down a few inches below the hammock to create an air gap there and that air is going to give it heated up on my body’s temperature and it’s just going to stay there as an insulating barrier.

What’s interesting about this under quilt is so it acts as an under club but it also comes with a zipper here on both ends and what I can actually do is fully zip this up, completely around myself. It goes from being just an under quote to a full-on pod system that fully encloses me which is really neat and it comes with a drawstring on the end so I could if I wanted to really cinch this up around my face if the temperature really demanded something like that.

The last item you’re really going to need if you are hammock camping is going to be a tarp. Just in case it starts raining or if there’s any debris or anything that falls off the trees, you know you want a nice tarp above you to protect you from that. Now a tarp will protect you from the rain but also helps insulate you. Believe it or not, especially how you can set up the tarp with different configurations. But if you set it up nice and close to you, it’ll help keep the air in the space warm and help you keep you warm.

Overall, you can also set the tarp off to help prevent the wind or when the wind is blowing over top of you or under you as well. So, the good tarp is definitely something that you’re going to need. I want to talk a bit more about it that you can use. The one that you can also use is from TTTM hammock. It’s like an diamond tarp shape. For me, this is not the usual setup that I would do, right? This is only like half setup just so you can really see into the camp. If it’s cold weather like I said before, I wouldn’t have this kind of a trap because the shape isn’t really preventing me from the cold.

But still, it can really be needed if you are need the one that can be setup quicker. The shape is has as little as two guy points and has the enough length so you can really tie the tarp around nearby supports or even stake it in to the ground. Another option you can have is kind of a teepee shape down and have that kind of come out straight or even up a bit and that way you can have a nice campfire. It’ll kind of reflect that heat back into you. One thing that I love about this tarp is that it actually comes with all the string that you need to lash it up built right into it.

It has the pockets and right in there you can store all the string that you need. It’s quite a bit probably like feet of rain that comes with it for you to tie it up. That’s a big plus in my mind where I finds it very convenient, very easy.

So I will definitely recommend the TTTM’s hammock camping tarp if you’d like to get the diamond shape and also another shape from different manufacturer or shop that obviously a lot of different ways that you can actually attach your tarp to the tree.

I think that those are pretty much everything that you’re really going to need to set up a good hammock camping sleeping system. We have a tarp to go over you, we have an underquilt to go underneath your hammock, we have your sleeping bag, the straps for the tarp and for the hammock and then we have the actual hammock itself. And as you can think, it is definitely more than a lot of people think.

I think we’ve run through everything that you’re really going to need to successfully do hammock camping right. If you want to be comfortable, you want to be right, you want to be warm, you know that those above are all the items that you’re really going to need.

It’s not as simple as just grabbing a hammock and running out in the woods, you know. You still need a few more things as I did. I love hammock camping and I don’t think I’m ever going to go back to regular tent camping. The biggest selling point for me is that I’ve got a bad back and I’m an old man now. And this parachute hammock—it feels great on my back. I love it. It feels so much better than sleeping on the ground even if I’ve got the most expensive mat.

This is so much better by far and also you know you can just kind of chill out and hang out in the hammock. You know it is. It’s a free chair as well as a sleeping system which I really love. So that’s it.

As I said before that I have link to one of the page to the official site on above that talks more about hammock camping. There you can also find the related pages to the hammock shop as well as to the tarp and the other relevant accessories and gears that you are going to need. Check out the site, read their experiences of where their team have been adventured and many more valuable information.
