Having a solo road trip or group road trip is fun. There are thrills from exploring the road by driving your car. Road trip is not about your travel destination but the journey from one point to another.
It is also one of the bet choices for short getaway since you don’t have to necessarily choose final points too far from the starter point. You don’t have to buy a ticket for a flight as well. However, road trip requires 100% stamina of your body.
It is important to stay fit and focus during road trip even if you switch-driving. It is easy to get drowsy in the middle of your trip and it is dangerous. Therefore, make sure you are well-prepared.
Things you need to pack for a road trip based on the season
Road trip is usually for summer getaway, however, most people tend to choose spring or fall for a road trip since the weather is not too extreme, meanwhile, road trip during winter is too risky since the road must be more slippery and covered with snow.
Since everyone has individual preference, being-well prepared is the only solution. No matter what season you hit the road, you can pack conditionally.
If you choose to have a road trip during mild weather such as in late summer, spring, or fall, you just need basic packing list including emergency kit.
Things you need to pack include flashlight with full batteries and 100% functional, heavy duty jumper cables just in case the battery dies somewhere in the middle of the journey, USB charger, safety triangles for your car in emergency, light sticks if you save the battery of your flashlight, emergency hammer to help you when you are trapped inside the car, first-aid kit to treat injury, a tow rope, and tire inflator.
Those are technical things you need. In addition, you also need to pack something for your need includes snacks to keep your energy in check such as protein bar, nuts, chocolate bar, etc. As for the beverages, it is recommended to pack plain water or drinks with low/less sugar.
If you choose to have a road trip during extreme weather like in winter, you might as well prepare more things to pack.
Aside from the regular things you should pack just like mentioned above, you need to pack additional things such as warm blanket to keep you and your passenger warm, additional jacket, a shovel just in case you need to dig out your car from the thick snow, ice scraper with for your car windows, and a bag of cat litter to help you in emergency such as when your car needs to gain traction.
If you are going to hit the road during hot summer, make sure you pack enough beverages aside from necessities to pack during mild weather of course.
You also need to re-apply sunblock o your skin periodically to avoid sunburn. Sunglasses are optional, depending on your comfort for driving.
