Komodo Island tours from Bali

Bali itself is become one of the closer island to Lombok, Province of West Nusa Tenggara. So if you have to go to Komodo Island from Bali, then you have to visit Lombok first since it is the first province you will likely to visit before Flores. And for the first way to access the Komodo Island from Bali in this article is will be using the motorcycle or the car.

Since the islands are separated by the sea, then the path that will be taken is through the land and the sea as well using the ferry boat.

From Denpasar, drive towards to the port of Padangbai where also here the ferry port you need to find, located at the Padangbai village, district of Manggis, Karangasem regency. You are still in Bali by the way.

After that, get on the ferry but make sure that the ticket you just bought is towards the port of Lembar. This port is the only one connecting port of Bali island and the Lombok island as well. The port itself is located at the district called as Lembar (West of Lombok) just like the name of the sea port. From Padangbai. From here, city of Mataram is only about 30 km away and if you are driving your bike or the car, it may will take times up to half an hour. And yes, you have to go to Mataram.

Anyway, from Padangbai to Lembar or vice versa, it usually takes up to 4 or 5 hours depending on the weather. But you don’t have to worry about being left by the ferry because there are about 16 of them and will operating 24 hours in a day and night.

Then, from Mataram, you will need to continue onwards to the Kayangan Port at Labuhan Lombok, Pringgabaya. After that, you have to get on board the ferry again to Poto Tano port and from here, follow along this route: Poto Tano – Sumbawa Besar – Dompu – Bima – Sape.

Seems like a never ending journey for your Komodo Island tours from Bali, huh?

And if you have arrived at Sape port, you still have 1 ferry to go to the city of Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara) as the main gate of your Komodo Island adventures.

Travelling by bike or the car quite exhausted, right? But apparently from some of the ferrys you have to sail on, looks like you have just experienced your own Lombok Liveaboard. If travelling using your own vehicle is not your thing, then simply get yourself a flight from Ngurah Rai International Airport at Bali to the city of Labuan Bajo (Komodo’s Airport).

As simple as that, and will only takes up to 1 hour on the air. From Labuan Bajo, you can get yourself to its port or hotel where you have reserved. And that will be the end of your journey to from Bali to Flores, but the beginning of your adventure to Komodo Island. It would be great to know that you are sharing this article. Thank you.
